Immediately After Placement
- If local anesthesia was used, avoid chewing until numbness wears off.
- Mild sensitivity or soreness is normal and should improve over the next few days to weeks.
Eating & Drinking
- Avoid hard, sticky, or crunchy foods for the first 24–48 hours.
- Avoid biting directly into hard foods (e.g. apples, crusty bread, ice).
What to Avoid
- Do not bite fingernails, pens, or other hard objects.
- Avoid using your teeth as tools.
- Porcelain resists staining, but the margins can discolor.. Avoid foods that may stain temporaries (e.g. coffee, tea, red wine) and smoking.
Care of Permanent Veneers
- Avoid pulling floss up between teeth, instead slide the floss out.
- Brush gently but with particular attention to the gumline.
- Use picksters with toothpaste or Savacol in between the veneers.
- Wear your occlusal splint nightly

Long-Term Care
With proper care, porcelain veneers can last many years. Treat them like natural teeth, remembering that porcelain can chip if abused.
